Okay, here's your chance to THANK George Bush

I realized last night while watching Countdown that I am actually grateful to the Bush administration for a few things. (Please, don't :puke:, stick with me for a minute here.) It was when Keith was talking about Cheney at the White House Correspondents Dinner. I realized that before Bush was elected, I didn’t even know such an event was held every year. And I am so very thankful for that despicable piece of film from the dinner a couple years ago where Bush is looking for the WMDs. That little shot of the little emperor opened so many minds in this country. It was one of the first things to cause the American Idol watching American public to wake up and realize that maybe, just maybe, this war wasn’t such a good idea after all.

So I decided to make a list and I am asking DUers to add to my list. What are YOU grateful to the Bush administration for?

1. Before this Bush, I didn’t know there was a White House Correspondents Dinner (see comment above)

2. Before this Bush, I knew Republicans were misguided but I didn’t realize the full extent of their evil nature. Now my eyes are wide open and I am very much aware of how truly evil the GOP is in America.

3. I know way too many people who not only never paid attention to US politics, but hadn’t even voted before this man became our president. Now these people are registered and paying attention. They were inspired by Worst President Ever to get involved.

4. I am a public school teacher and I didn’t appreciate how well we educated our children in our public schools until No Child Left Behind forced us to abandon our effective practices. So I am grateful that for the first 20 years of my career, I was part of a system that worked and worked well. As I approach the end of my career as a teacher, I do have successes to reflect back upon.

5. When Bush took office, gas was $1.46 a gallon and we were surrounded by SUVs. Road hogging, gas guzzling SUVs. As the price of gas has gone up, more fuel efficient vehicles are on our roads. So I am grateful for fewer gas guzzlers.
