When the Chinese shot down their own malfunctioning satellite, that was a tougher shot and more like the concept of Star Wars than this was. This was basically a test of a SMIII missile scenario, not shooting down a working satellite. Oh, and probably getting rid of evidence of some sort of technology advance they don't want getting out.
