Your genetic make-up is determined by the number of dominant/recessive genes present in your parents' gametes. Dominant genes overrule recessive ones. Thus, there is actually a very slim chance anyone would be exactly "half black" or "half white".

Not that this argument really matters, as there is no gene for race. Qualities seen as pertaining to the American social construct of "race" are actually controlled by a small number of insignificant genetic markers that determine physical appearance.
