I've ridden the subways to get to work before. Still there are skads of SUV's even there.
I now live just outside Seattle, and while you don't have as much of that SUV crap here (everyone seems to drive subarus), you still have some.

The problem is not just the over-compensation, but the aggressive-offensive driving that comes with it. Where they attempt to intimidate everyone in front of them, so they can barrel down the freeways at 80+ mph.

SUV's were never designed to do 80+ MPH safely. Off-road vehicles generally don't do more than 40 MPH, while off-road.

Personally, I always loved a good tight suspension, quick manuverability, and the ability to take those turns crisply.

Then again, I commute on a Bicycle (yes, even in the rain).
