Yes, I know what the Article in the Constitution says about impeachment. It says that the Congress SHALL REMOVE from office upon impeachment and conviction of high crimes and misdemeanors. It does not say that they SHALL be impeached for the commission of high crimes.

Having said that: The Constitution also states that every Congressperson shall be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution.

THIS IS THE OATH EACH CONGRESSPERSON TAKES:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter."

For those of you who want to argue that impeachment is NOT an obligation under the Constitution, I humbly ask you to answer this question:

How can Congress protect the Constitution if it stands idly by while the Executive continues to commit high crimes against the Constitution?

Notice the verb in the oath, "protect." That verb requires ACTION against all who would subvert the Constitution. With all due respect, when Nancy Pelosi took impeachment "off the table" she was abrogating her Constitutional oath of office.

Notice, the above oath, to which our Congresspersons are Constitutionally bound also states that they take the oath "without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion." I'm sorry, but the fact of the matter is, when Nancy Pelosi took impeachment off the table she was PURPOSELY EVADING her Constitutional obligation to protect and defend the Constitution.

Again, how can ANY POTUS be allowed by Congress to continue to commit high crimes against the Constitution, without check, and the Congress still say that they are fulfilling their Constitutional oath of office?

Is the impeachment of Dick Cheney and George Bush a Constitutional obligation of Congress? You bet your ass it is!!
