There was so much to see and do on the island and, because the island was almost all military, we had a lot of freedom!! You are right, the island is pretty barren but quite beautiful, as well. The side of the hill behind our house was FULL of bald eagles -- how many kids can say that they saw bald eagles everyday? Here is a photo of Adak -- the houses in the foreground are my old neighborhood. This photo was taken from on top of the hill that I mentioned earlier. IMG]  |
