30. It's Not A Debate, It's A TV Show
Debates don't have candidates parading on stage like its the start of some game show...debates don't have the moderator dominating the answers and using up as much of the discussion time as the candidates. A real debate allows candidates to directly question one another...speak for more than 30 seconds about a serious issue. This was a TV show...staged and manipulated. The candidates know it as its worth thousands in free advertising to be on the stage and play as part of this game show.

Look at how CNN promoted the hell out of this thing...then did all that "pre-game" and "post-game"...this wasn't about issues, but getting eyeballs to watch and then to manipulate those ratings into advertising dollars. Thus, since its their show and their dime, they also feel entitled to frame the questions (which they did all night...Wolife has those talking points down to perfection) and plant them if needed. This was about making CNN look good...like Wolfie's the "kingmaker", Campbell Brown is a "journalist" and Roberts isn't so bad that CBS promoted Couric ahead of him...and then to let their spinner and bobble heads spend endless hours talking about it. They wanted the "confrontation"...the "gotcha"...it had nothing to do with allowing the candidates to speak about issues of substance, but rather the strawmen and talking points of "the village".
