#1. I never knew he was racist.

#2. From the few times I had seen his show there were no indications he felt that way.

#3. This only came to light via a private phone call that should be no one else's business.

#4. The call was sold to the Inquirer by his son. This is wrong on many levels. Dishonest, sleazy, greedy, and underhanded among other things.

#5. If not for that call there would be no issue.

#6. How do I not respect his privacy yet expect that mine will be respected?

#7. How chilling would it be for discourse if there were no private conversations?

To me this is less about what he said but that what he said in private was made public. To be clear I absolutely do not condone what he said, but no one should have to censure private speech.
