3. It's not the first time, either
Miami Beach had a huge rebuilding project some years ago because the sand had been reduced to a thin strip. A brand new beach was dredged up and deposited in front of all those high rise hotels and condos and the area was reborn just in time for the South Beach craziness.

If nature had its way, those heaps of masonry would be reachable only by boat, their lower two floors submerged.

That ugly wall of high rises stretches nearly the full length of the east coast of Florida, broken only by the expansive mansions of the super rich.

Undoubtedly, the taxpayer will again foot the bill for dredging and redeposition to buy the area a few more years of glory.
