22. Conservatives can't do comedy. So they do political commentary
Comedy from a conservative point of view cannot help but come off as cruel and mean spirited. The failure of Fox's alternate to the Daily Show should have been sufficient lessons for that. The left meanwhile can use comedy to political gain because the liberal perspective is typically that of the powerless speaking up to power. Thus humor from the left can make broad comments and use cutting ideas and not come off as mean or cruel. This preserves both the humor and the political commentary.

Ann Coulter occupies the functional position on the right of what Family Guy functions as for the left. They are both sources of commentary that push ideas to the extreme. The purpose being to incite the opposition to fits of emotional outrage thereby taking them off their composure and reducing their ability to reason. Meanwhile the proponents of each side see the comments as insightful and cutting political jabs at the opposition.
