The Repub Right Wing School of Journalism, "How To Be Interviewed' ...Lesson One

If you watch the succession of Republican Right Wing pundits and talking heads as they parade across tv and radio in interviews and panel discussions, you can discern the common characteristics of their training and techniques.

Lesson One.... Techniques

"You own the microphone."

As soon as you are properly identified, you begin talking and do not stop. The interview and/or panel discussion will be limited in length of time, and as long as you are talking the panelist representing the opposing view will not be heard. The same goes for the interviewer. This is not about equal time and fair play, this is war ....

"Talk LOUDER than the Interviewer and other Panelists" ....

"Interrupt the other Panelists when they are talking and get the attention back on yourself" ...

"NEVER answer the question asked UNLESS you are on Fox News or Rush Limbaugh's Show"...

"ALWAYS stick to your own talking points and ignore the question asked" since it is more important for you to push our views than to answer questions put to you.

"No matter what the other Panelist says, ALWAYS state they are wrong or lying, and if needed impugn their character"....

"If the other Panelist will not cede the microphone to you, CHANGE THE SUBJECT and accuse them of not answering your questions about the new subject" ...

"If you cannot prevail on the facts in debating another Panelist it is important that viewers and listeners be confused about what the other Panelist has to say even if the viewers and listeners do not agree with your view".... you can accomplish this by restating what they are saying in a manner which mischaracterizes and distorts their actual comments

"If the interview is winding down, always talk to the very end and ALWAYS GET IN THE LAST WORD"...

NEXT WEEK's Lesson Two Content .....
