Nothing but nothing will improve until we decimate the rethugs in the House and Senate. For 12 years they ran this country into the ground. Democrats disappoint me all too often, but nothing, and I mean nothing compares to the level of malfeasance the repukes perpetrate. Worried that the dems are corpocrats? Well, yeah, but the repukes are tenfold worse. A choice between two evils, you say? Perhaps, but the repukes have honed corruption and heinous policy making to a fine art. No difference between the two parties? Don't even start.
A large majority in the House and Senate will give liberals and progressives more power. The progressives in the House are already a sizable caucus. I want to add to it. Mark Warner may not be the most liberal guy in the world, but he's a hell of an improvement on John Warner, and Mark Udall of Colorado is a liberal and one of the strongest environmental voices in the House. Jean Shaheen over John Sununu? Hell yes.
I don't expect everything at once, but a Senate and House with increased majorities and more liberals, does give me some small amount of hope. And crushing the rethugs and repudiating their nauseating agendas, is a first step toward a new policy zeitgeist.
And oh yeah, one more (petty) thing: I want to go to freeperville on election night to gloat and laugh my ass off at the rending of garments and gnashing of teeth.
