36. I did the google thing
And I looked up a few of his judgements on behalf of the court. And honestly he doesn't write like the typical eighth grader. I believe he is intellectually dishonest and conflicted but not stupid. Maybe there is significant editing?

I know he has a reputation as being recalcitrant and silent on the court, but that doesn't necessarily equal him being stupid. Maybe it is just his style, he doesn't like to hear his own voice? Some people consider that an admirable quality; Abraham Lincoln was often mocked for being a quiet person, as well. Of course, perhaps he is more intellectually "lazy" and believes that other justices can do his work for him. Regardless, I'm deeply suspicious of calling him "stupid" unless I see good evidence of it.
