I'd last about ten minutes in that job. And, imho, there's something going on with the training because there has been a shift in attitude and that can be dangerous.

Maybe what I'm trying to say is that our first responders have too much on their hands to be able to do the job they want to do. I had one kid say to me, "I just bought a house and have a new baby. I HAVE to arrest SOMEBODY."

As a peer counselor, I work with first responders all the time. But as a person, I see their position being coopted. That's not good for them, for their mission or for people who rely on them.
