15. a politician once showed up at the door of a critic
this was a few decades ago, when William Donald Schaefer was mayor of Baltimore. I don't remember the exact details but for someone who criticized him in a LTTE, Schaefer showed up at his home one evening to talk to him about it.
Shaefer was mayor, gov. of MD, and recently lost the race for state comptroller. He was a Democrat who endorsed Bush Sr. for president, and did all sorts of other things that made people wonder if he was bonkers.
