Hey John,
Yeah, I think people have a right to be very angry in this situation. We've had our country stolen from us. We have a president who has committed blatant war crimes and crimes against humanity in our names. We have a government run by elites that want profits for themselves and their elk and will happly allow force capitalism down the people's throats. We have a system that isn't really accountable to the common people. We have a media that slants the news in service to this system. The time is coming when the social contract will be up for renewal once again. Will the people accept the same old deal? Or will they realize how much of the short end of this deal they are getting?
I was a liberal democrate for many years. Then in 1991 during the first Persian Gulf war, I realized that some parts of the news were not making sense to me. I researched much further and found that I was no longer a liberal democrate. I discovered that my country was run by a bunch of hypocrits who had no care for the ideals that I took for granted. I discovered that the news didn't make sense because the stated ideals were not the reasons the elites acted the way they did and do.
I think there is reason to be mad, very mad. Some of the raw parts of the system are showing now. Unfortunately, I don't think a democrat in the White House will really solve it. It will take much more than that. The democrats are basically a softer gentler side of the business party. Same deal just a little better social contract.
The time will come for dramatic action. That time may not be for fifty years but on the otherhand it may be tomorrow. People will need to stand up for themselves.
Regards,
Jim Lupton
PS. I guess I'm not really mad anymore, just cynical as hell. The Iraq war is a real example of how out of control our goverment really is. If we want to stop it we are going to have to do more than just elect a democrat or two.
