Lamont not done with politics
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Not wanting to be forever known as just the guy that beat Sen. Joe Lieberman in Connecticut's Democratic primary, Ned Lamont resurfaced Monday in an email urging his supporters to back a campaign that encourages progressive measures in state and local legislatures.

"When I said that the end of the campaign would not bring an end to our fight -- our fight for an end to the disastrous occupation in Iraq; our fight for new, innovative solutions to the problems our country faces; and our fight for basic rights and equality of opportunity -- I meant it," Lamont wrote.

The campaign, launched by The Progressive States Network and several partnership organizations, advocates the passing of progressive legislation in all fifty states, according the organization's web site. Lamont, most known for his anti-war stance, defeated Lieberman -- a supporter of the Iraq war -- in the Connecticut primary in August.

Lieberman ran as an independent in the general election, beating Lamont by over 100,000 votes.
