22. I don't think it's more outlets
but more 24-hour news outlets. That's a lot of time to fill, especially since they aren't willing to spend the money it takes to dig up real news, so they fill it with fluff. Then they discover that, gosh, Mer'kins like fluff! So they give us more fluff! And before you know it, it's hard to tell the difference between CNN and "Entertainment Tonight."

And newspapers, whose owners are even more protective of their profit margins, follow suit.

News organizations should never be publicly traded. It compromises their raison d' etre.
