24. Using the wrong flag for an attack
During the middle ages it was common to do some piracy on the side, however a ship was always sailing with a flag of the country to which it belonged. So if a British ship spotted a Spanish ship which was loaded with silver, it would lower the British flag and replace it with a German flag. The reason was that survivors of the attack would blame Germany and not Great Britain for the heist.

That was very common from the middle ages until the 17th century, however the world has grown up since then :sarcasm:
