MN's Sen. Patricia Torres-Ray (DFL-Mpls) has had enough of the Republicans lies

Sen. Patricia Torres-Ray (DFL-Mpls) has had enough of the Republicans trying to dismantle public education in Minnesota and lying about it. She took to the Senate floor yesterday to remind Republicans of what they are really doing.


She listed all of the items Republicans are cutting in their education budget:

* cut Indian Children Welfare Act
* canceled Youth Summer Programs in lowest income communities
* cut compensatory funding for three largest districts with highest concentrations of poverty
* cut integration funding
* cut all the funding for caregiver support

Here's her conclusion:

" All of this funding was for poor children, members, and you just cut this funding. You just did that. Do not come today and tell us that you want to provide public funding to private schools to support low income children of color because that is just not true. What you are doing is taking public dollars to go to private schools because you want to dismantle ... to dismantle public education. That's what you want to do. Just don't lie about it."
