there are 103 nuclear reactors in the United States. About half (52) have been in operation for more than 30 years, most of the rest (42) have been in operation at least 20 years. hmm...

Does anyone else suspect the pro-nuclear advocates have grown complacent over these many years, with only one catastrophic event prior to Fukushima? Before Fukushima, the pro-nuke crowd could crow about the 'relative safety' of nuclear energy, because 'we all know the Russians used sub-standard technology at Chernobyl,' and it was just an 'accident waiting to happen.'

It seems like only yesterday that so many of us were actively opposing nuclear reactors. Yet, here we are--almost 40 years later--watching in horror as Fukushima becomes the iconic justification for our opposition.

Almost four decades of nuclear waste, and no long-term storage protocol: where do you think all of that radioactive waste IS right now (not counting the depleted uranium weaponry our nation has used in three arenas--much to the detriment of hundreds of thousands of 'non-combatants')?

We are witnessing the MIC and energy cartel pulling out all stops to guarantee we'll continue our insane addiction to oil, coal, and nuclear energy--all of which fatally pollute our planet every second of every minute of every day of every week of every month of every year that we exist.
