Bizarre haughty attitude in response to Thom outing right wing propaganda techniques in play, i.e. revelation that "climate gate" climate data actually held up in a quiet NYT article, and that Koch Industries poured nearly $50 million into 40 different groups to pretend there was widespread skepticism about global warming.
Too much truth for the haughty kid, so he resorted to the Oh My Goodness, Heavens No, you're not some conspiracy nut are you? You really think there is corporate money influencing our public discourse and news networks! Oh good gracious... so I'm glad Thom got a bit impatient and reminded his guest that he wasn't born yesterday and had run some ad companies and understood marketing and PR quite well, thank you. But the guy just wanted to pump the line that one just must be a wild-eyed radical to look for the influence of right wing funding and corporate money on dedicated ideologically pure nonprofits like his.
Couldn't answer the facts on the ground about millions of dollars expended on corporate and right wing professional advocacy of anti-government propaganda and pro-war messaging during the previous administration, so the guest had to resort to how dare you ask those questions?
But it was shocking to learn that the Huge Scandal Climate-Gate Corrupt Data -- was a trumped up game. The data held up. Glad Rachel Maddow took that up too. A week of Big Shocking Scandal Climate-Gate, and then an official inquiry discovered that the data discussed was perfectly legitimate. But the stories of Shame Shame Shame were so very dramatic. Koch's $50 million added to Exxon Mobil's millions buys you some very fancy hardball PR.
Enough with the guerilla PR-- making stuff up like crushing ACORN with the fake pimp video steamroller propaganda. That was masterful, wasn't it. Turns out the guy wasn't wearing the Disney Pimp get- up when he visited the offices. The raw video, allowed to be held back from release until demanded by California Attorney General Jerry Brown in our official investigation, reveals a very different story than the one splashed across all our TV screens for many days in a row.
So much of the right wing political PR involves making things up. We have serious issues to discuss as a nation, so the right wing PR pros need to divert us into fearful melodrama.
