BILLINGS, Mont. - The Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Midwest Motor Express Inc. for exposing workers to unsafe levels of carbon monoxide and proposals $75,000 in fines.

OSHA's area office in Billings began an investigation in December 2009 when a worker at the company's East Helena freight terminal was hospitalized due to exposure to carbon monoxide.

Midwest Motor Express was cited for the "willful violation" of exposing employees to unsafe levels of carbon monoxide and not properly training forklift operators about using propane forklifts.

Bismarck, N.D.-based MME has 15 business days to pay the fine, request an informal conference with OSHA's area director or to contest the findings.
