did Cheney try to get the whole thing hushed up--handled without involving the proper authorities, without making the proper reports and within the proper intervals? Was there an attempt in those first hours (an attempt that failed) to somehow avoid reporting the VPs involvement in a shooting altogether? Is the delay really a symptom of an attempt to completely falsify the medical and police reports, in other words, so that someone else besides Cheney would be found to bear the blame.
