39. Maybe...It's tough to say

If the country voted for a female president, my guess is she would be in the same mold as Thatcher...and she would likely be republican. I think Condy would get elected before Hillary.

Many states (perhaps most - I'm not sure?) have voted during some or the other for a female senator or governor. So maybe the nation would consider it. I don't necessarily see Hillary as the one. She's a very polarizing figure and while we know the opposite is true, many think she is some sort of far left liberal. Her entire campaign would be about distancing herself from Democratic values and discussing a history of baggage (I am not interested in hearing about Clinton and his marital infidelity again and we know that will come up). The hatred she faces from the right is very potent and venemous. I think there are some that don't realize the kind of smear campaign she will face. That and I don't see any great appeal to her. I sense no convictions and when I see her speak, I see a competant and intelligent speaker, but I feel a sense of pandering and insincerety you see in 'typical politicians'. Her speaking style is very stilted, unnatural, and droning. And I am tired of her pandering over meaningless issues like video game violence and flag burning. These are the kind of issues you literally use to pander to 'security moms' (or whatever other such bullshit segmenting terms the pundits will use in '08) and the right will latch on to them as such. In the end, the stunt she is now performing will not work. It will simply drive away the base and the support from moderates and conservatives will never materialize.

I don't see her beating the media darling 'independant maverick' McCain, or the good 'ole boy charm of George Allen (yuck the thought of him becoming president is revolting) or the like.
