32. I had unwisely loaned my copy to a shipmate some years back.

What irritates me is the thought that he didn't return it because it was such a valuable book. In all probability, he tossed it a corner and eventually threw it out --- unread.

But here's a book that might be worth looking into: "Maverick Marine: General Smedley D. Butler and the Contradictions of American Military History" --- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0813109574/qid=1136201933/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-1001846-9739314?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

Butler's book "War Is A Racket" is available through Amazon. It's also on the web for free, and can be downloaded. In lieu of those books, much information on that attempted coup can be found on-line with search engines. There have been several lengthy discussions on this topic on DU that I can recall. Time to start another?

On edit: I just skimmed through the original posting, since I felt I already knew so much about this topic. My STEWPID mistake! I didn't realize that the book in question is available (in HTML format), as well as some other valuable information. Thanks for finding this and sharing it with the DU family!!
