George W. Bush's Unreported Contempt and Hostile Disrespect for the American People

Even though it isn't discussed in the mainstream press, George W. Bush's disdain for America's democratic institutions, courts, laws, political opposition, and even the Constitution has reached legendary status. It goes without saying that the President's level of respect for international laws, norms, treaties, and diplomacy is slightly lower than that of a wife toward her husband whom she has only recently caught in bed with a goat from the local hobby farm.

Only a few short years ago, it was unfathomable to imagine the United States ever having a President who actually believed the Constitution provided him the bases to ignore the Constitution. Who could have dreamed that the President of the United States would assume for himself, the right to imprison people without trial or to spy on the daily lives of American citizens? And honestly, what parallel universe would someone have had to inhabit in order to imagine a President of these United States of America, literally censoring scientists (ordering them to submit their findings for review by censors)? Then again, who ever thought the American people would see and hear their President insisting that he had the right to torture people? And, finally, but certainly not at all inclusively, how many American Presidents have unilaterally rejected more signed international treaties than has George W. Bush?

-snip-

Of course, Americans are dealing with a press that, nearly four years on, still cannot bring itself to admit that George W. Bush blatantly lied the United States into war in Iraq. The President clearly intimated that Saddam had something to do with 9/11; that Saddam was harboring al-Qaeda; that Saddam was using gutted out airplanes to train al-Qaeda in the art of hijacking; that Saddam possessed hundreds of tons of weapons of mass destruction (WMD); that Saddam had reconstituted his nuclear program; that Saddam was training al-Qaeda in the development and use of WMD; and that Saddam possessed the technology to launch attacks on the United States. There were more "reasons" the President listed for needing to invade Iraq -- like a smoking gun in the "form of a mushroom cloud" -- and not one of them...NOT ONE was true.

-snip-

The outrage, of course, is that it isn't the President's kids fighting, bleeding, and dying for his lies. His kids are in South America partying like "Girls Gone Wild," while the peoples' children die for his lies. The fact that the American people, those this President holds in contempt and greatly disrespects, are sick and tired of their children dying for his goddamned lies; will never be reported by the American press.

and there you have it

(an aside: Wolf Blitzer should be dragged by the feet out of the CNN bldg.)
