1) Sexual orientation is a "state of mind"; and

2) Demanding equal rights is an assault on "religious freedom."

Nice compromise.

This entire thread has been one touchy-feely, digging-for-recommendations, lovefest with no relation to the real world. In politics, someone wins, and someone loses. Somehow there are those in our party who'd just love to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, even if they have to wrestle the beast to the ground.
