Kind of gave me the creeps, I'll admit. Hope it isn't an omen!
Polls opened about 5 minutes late - we have the new EVM - used to vote with punch cards and butterfly ballots - my guess is it took them a while to set it up.
The great thing is that Chester County PA offers both the EVM and the paper ballot (that gets scanned in). PA hasn't certified any of the machines with paper trails, so the county made the decision to do both to meet the requirements of the law but also offer a better option (read: recountable). The poll workers in my polling place had the EVM set up but gave everyone a paper ballot to vote on. No one was interested in using the EVM.
I took my kids with me so they could see the process. My youngest would only eat the Democratic donuts offered outside! :-)
