I believe the attack on the Kurdish village was while the war was in full swing. We backed Iraq in that war and turned a blind eye to the occasional war crime and act of genocide.
The slaughter of the shiite rebels happened after we stopped short of Baghdad at the end of Gulf Farce I, and basically gave Saddam the green light to restore 'law and order'.
We give a shit about Saddam's victims as part of our endless lying about why we knocked him over when we resumed the war with Gulf Farce II.
Nobody says it on TV because they want to keep their jobs.
