This would have gotten the same level of media coverage today as it would've any other day.
Apparently these guys were Pakistani, which is more accurately described as Asian than Middle Eastern.
I think the US knew about the whole tracing operation, but that this was mostly a British effort.
I don't think carry-on liquids will be banned for very long. I don't think it has anything to do with the airlines...I've never been charged for water or soda on any flight I've ever taken.
