I don't want another Afghanistan, do you?
The liberal approach - based on what progressives stand for - SHOULD be to minimize the damage to our troops and the Iraqi citizens and a timed maneuver out to allow for a political process is more progressive than helicopters on top of mosques.
That said - there are other approaches of Diane's (my cousin by marriage, btw) that ARE DLC. This approach is just not one of them, imho.
