68. Email from the DCCC
Shortly after signing this petition, I received a fundraising email from the DCCC, penned by Senator Clinton. In it she mentions all the really vital, important issues of the day that will drive the next election. Healthcare costs, Katrina recovery, etc.

Not once, no where in that message, does she mention the Iraq war, holding goverment accountable to the law, or any of another handful of issues I can think of off the top of my head that are far more important to our well-being as a nation than the ones she mentioned, as important as they are in their own right.

As someone said, this next election should be all about accountability. The Iraq war, holding the president (all of government) accountable under to the law, voter and information rights, etc. Anywho, here was my response:
Dear Senator Clinton,

In my humble opinion, you are not capable of providing the leadership we need. You are unwilling to stand up to the GOP and fight for our republic. I see no mention in your message about the issues that are even more pressing, such as the Iraq war, a president and his administration who are not held accountable for breaking the law or voter fraud. You say nothing about how you will handle national security. The pillars of our government are being undermined every day, yet you and most of the DCCC/DLC do not have the courage to fight, to stand on real principles.

I will be donating money to Democrats, for at least one more election cycle. I will not however be donating to an organizations such as the DCCC, but rather directly to candidates I feel I can trust to fight for real, substantive change in how our government is run. Candidates who will fight for the people, who aren't afraid to stand up to the GOP. Candidates who have a true voice. I, and most Democrats I know, will not be looking for candidates based on whether or not they are liberal, centrist or conservative. But only on two basic questions:

1) Do they stand by core, traditional Democratic values, like some of the ones you mentioned in your email message. Labor rights, the environment, education and civil rights. Differences in the how are to be expected and encouraged, as long as the core principle values are the same.

2) Are they willing to talk about difficult issues? Are they willing to criticize the administration, and strongly, on the issues where they are plainly, morally wrong? Even if I disagree with them on some points, do they show the courage it will take to speak out and change the way things have been working, or rather FAILING, in D.C.?

What you and your organization don't seem capable of realizing, is that Americans see right through you. You have lost all real sense of purpose or standing. The left wont vote for you because you wont fight for the things that matter most to them, and the center wont vote for you because you just plain wont fight. You roll over and play dead on all the major issues. You avoid the hard fights and go for the easy domestic issues you think will save you.

You are wrong. And while you keep marching to that same, tired drum beat, election after election, you will somehow manage to continue to loose. You are failing not only your own party, but all of America, which desperately needs some sense, some balance, in our government. We demand accountability, and you either don't have the courage to provide it, or have forgotten what it means entirely!

Sincerely,
