If sex wasn't fun, nothing would do it. No bird ever thinks, "I must put my sperm in a female bird's cloaca so she'll lay eggs." No, he just feels like rubbing his cloaca on his mate because it feels good and he feels excited to be with her, and he doesn't know why.
