In Madison, WI (Williamson St neighborhood)

Willy St Food Cooperative
Schaefer Pharmacy (family business)
Ace Hardware on Williamson (independently owned)
Star Liquor
Bahn Thai Restaurant
Williamson Bicycle Works
Star Books
St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store
Bongo Video
Scooter Therapy
Mother Fools Coffee shop
Hempen Goods
Grandpa's Gun Shop
Lao Laan Xang Restaurant
BP Gas on Williamson (independently owned)
Crystal Corner Bar
Weary Traveller (restaurant)
Jolly Bob's Jamaican Restaurant
Jamerica (restaurant and Jamaican food store)
...and a few more I probably forgot, and another dozen if I want to walk a few more blocks.

About the only thing I can't get right in my neighborhood is a new car, but then again, I don't need one -- my neighborhood just rawks for walking...
