I'm live in rural Alabama in a county that gave Bush 76% of the vote in 2004. I know exactly what you are talking about. . .

Yet, I love this place. Sure, the people misguided politically, but other than that, they're okay. They just get caught up in wedge issues.

P.S. They're coming around though. Yesterday, the town newspaper did a poll of the residents on the Iraq war, and 55% said that "they no longer supported it." There is positive news coming out of Covington County, Alabama... just give us time. We'll turn her blue.
