They ignore the Congress. If Congress asks them to turn over documents (or any othe action), they just ignore them. They ignore the Judiciary. If the courts order them to turn over documents (or any other action), they just ignore them. They do whatever the h*ll they want and ignore ANYONE who tries to stop them.

The last check on their power is the American people. What happens after the next election if Dems take control of the Congress, but BushCo continues to ignore them? What happens if Congress impeaches the President, but he refuses to leave office? What happens if elections are held, new people are elected, but the incombents refuse to leave office? And with the idiots supporting Bush in his insanity, would we end up in an inevitable civil war - one side supporting Bush, the other opposing him?

I wish these were just academic questions, but BushCo has exhibited such a contempt for anyone other than themselves that the questions must be asked.

Would the military support BushCo or the Congress? What happens if Gonzo declares Congressional action illegal? What happens if we have a situation where the Executive is truly in direct opposition with the Congress? And where do the new Supreme Court Justices appointed in this play out? Would Roberts and Alito support the Executive by ignoring the constitution? If a Supreme Court Justice acts in a blatently unethical way, can they be disbarred - and if so, what happens to their lifetime appointment? What happens in a worst case scenario when every branch of government is pitted against the other?

I see us headed toward a HUGE Constitutional crisis due to Bush and his minions total contempt for the law, the checks and balances, and the people of the United States. Folks, I think we're looking at a coup that is already in progress. I'm just not sure how we can wiggle out of the inevitable results.
