93. The Saint John's Bible
The first illuminated page of The Saint John's Bible.
The illustrated passage tells the story of the geneology of Jesus as told in the Gospel according to Mathew. The artist, Donald Jackson, depicts the family tree as a Jewish menorah surrounded by intertwined spirals suggestive of DNA chains, and names written in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.
