He works his butt off. He's smart, kind and gentle and is valued in his district. He teaches 1st grade. I think he wants to stay in teaching but the pay sucks. His best friend from childhood owns a house and has a wife who is a stay-at-home mom with their two kids. He's a plumber. My son has a roommate in a not so cool neighborhood in Oakland. His friend has told him anytime he wants to change professions there's a place for him in the business. He probably makes more than twice as much as a teacher. Maybe 3 times as much. And I doubt they take their work home...
