need to be renewed every 5 years. I renewed my on line earlier in the year and a couple of weeks later I was sent a copy of my updated teaching credential. The renewal process was really easy. It didn't even ask for verification of the professional growth hours I'd done, just asked if I had done them and for the name of the person who would sign them off.
Maybe your Clear Credential doesn't need to be renewed yet?
I've had pretty good luck emailing questions to the Commission for Teacher Credentialing and getting answers back in a day or so.
Good luck. It's a huge bureaucracy in Sacramento.
on edit: Maybe you have a Life Credential and don't need to get it renewed? I don't know when the State stopped issuing those - maybe in the early 80s.
