republicans have been beating Dems over the head with the "family values" rhetoric since reagan
just what are "family values" - republicans have yet to define it beyond a warm-fuzzy sound bite. WAAAAAY back, when I was in school - one teacher would beat us over the head to DEFINE OUR TERMS.
republicans need to do the same - define what they mean by "family values" -- and not a laundry list of "Americans care about education... Americans care about freedom...." yadda yadda yadda - but rather what are the values and how are they being supported?
in other words - do republicans really VALUE FAMILIES? Programs designed to help families are cut to the bone. Initiatives designed to help families go unfunded. Families who ask for help are spurned as being "welfare queens". Meanwhile we are being fed on a diet of rhetoric of giving to the rich and wait for a trickle.
Family value rhetoric doesn't pay the bills.
