You can't just sell a situation. Unless, of course, you sell it to one of these networks who do reality TV. They might find it interesting, but I doubt it because it's not a situation which they created. They seem to enjoy creating the situation.

But as far as a screenplay goes, I see it as a romantic comedy where the man and the woman are friends and have no intention of getting back together again, but of course, the kids want them to get back together again.

The plot is already there. What you have are the details and situations which can make it more credible and realistic.
