19. General Pace now making his statement with the usual "talking
points" of how proud he is of the military, reenlisting in "record numbers" and the American people are responding to attacks on our way of life. Geeze, Louise, wonder if this man ever had a moment of Zen where he realizes that those many years of service to his country all went up in smoke the day he threw in with this bunch of asswipes?

Abizaid up now. Second verse, same as the first.

In the deep recess of their minds, in the dark hours between midnight and dawn to these guys ever admit, just to themselves, what they have done to this country? How much blood they have on their hands, the countless children, families whose lives have been splintered and torn apart for all eternity because them, the loss of almost 2,600 points of light that will never shine among us again. Do these guys get it?

I'm not talking about the usual and expected agony of any military leader who have lost soldiers in the natural course of waging war. Pace and Abizaid (among others) have to know they have allowed civilian leaders, who have no clue of combat, military strategy, or service to their country to incompetently waged a false and meaningless war. Why didn't they speak up? Why didn't they have the guts to speak truth to power? They might get another star for their epaulets, might be handed another medal by a "cowboy" president but the last three years of their career negates each and every brave thing they have ever done in the service of their country by not speaking up against this administration? How do they sleep at night?
