inconceivable?

I just finished reading RFK Jr's Rolling Stone article about the 2004 election being stolen. I've also been reading about the attacks he is coming under for it. It appears to me that most people, not just Right Wingers, but average Americans too, just can't believe that a federal election could be stolen in the U.S. They have no problem believing that it happened in Ukraine, or the Republic of Georgia, or Africa, or South America, but it just couldn't happen here. I think a lot of people are running around with their hands over their ears and screaming, "La la la la."

I don't know if actual voter fraud did occur in 04. There does seem to be a lot of evidence that says that something bad happened. I don't think that there is anything about the U.S. that is so special that a crime like that couldn't happen. Maybe Kennedy is seeing something where there is nothing. I don't know. I just wish that people (and politicians) would treat him with an open mind, listen to what he has to say without shouting him down, and have an open discussion.
