13. I don't think it was bleak
The statement KG posted where Kerry's staffer spoke of what they did in Iraq was great. My guess is that this is stuff Kerry would never have publisized - and it is amazing. Contrast the Leiberman/McCain photo op press conference from the Green Zone. (Hey, Kerry was at least very neatly dressed in the disputed photo!) Kerry was there to learn, to hear from the front lines - not to say he went.

I would love to see the town hall - though if it was taped, I seriously doubt it would be unclassified. I would imagine that the 100 soldiers were happy to have an open dialogue with him. In some ways, this could backfire on the ones who started it - if the explanation gets much play.
