8. What's a shame is that people are ignoring the Bible.
If we listened only to the likes of the Christian Coalition, George W. Bush, Falwell and his ilk, and others of that stripe, one would think the Old and New Testaments consisted of 20 percent essays in support of supply-side economics, 20 percent on going around bragging about your own righteousness (if you are a right-winger, that is), 20 percent war-mongering, 20 percent on anti-gay themes, and 20 percent on why abortion is wrong.

People are taking what's familiar in our society (the strict father model, policies favoring the wealthiest and most powerful, etc.) and mistaking it for the Gospel.
