Reply #35: Manifest Destiny is something quite different

I thought I remembered this from my youthful social studies classes, but I had to look it up on wikipedia to be sure:

Originally a political catch phrase of the 19th century, "Manifest Destiny" eventually became a standard historical term, often used as a synonym for the expansion of the United States.

"Manifest Destiny" was basically the US' excuse for dominating the west, and sowed the seeds for what we're doing today in Iraq.

So I believe you mean destiny vs free will. And I believe in free will. You always have a choice. Even doing nothing is a choice.
