101. Make your own book, Cassie
Seriously. Get a notebook and then go thru your deck a card at a time. Write down what each card makes you feel and what you think about it. Later, as you get to the point that you are looking at the "traditional" meanings associated with the cards you may find that what you felt was more accurate for you.

I'd suggest (and this may be whimsy on my part) that you put that deck in your pillowcase and sleep with it for a while before you try a reading with it. Probably sounds odd, but "breaking in" a deck does take some time, I think. There is a lot of stuff out there that declares you have to _____ (insert some mystical thing here) with any deck in order to protect it. I've seen it run the gamut from wrapping it in silk to keeping it bound by chains of gold. Frankly, I keep some of my decks in my bedside table and more often than not they are still stored in the boxes they came in. Other decks are hanging out on bookshelves or on tables.

I love the artwork in the Tarot cards and it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful it can be. Some folks really LOVE the Motherpeace deck (--it is ROUND!) and they will never read with anything else. Others are in love with different decks for whatever reason. I have maybe three or four decks that I use most often. Probably the one I reach for first is my Aquarian Deck. It is very Art Deco and the colors just turn me on for some reason.

Your feelings may vary and that is OK!

Good luck with this new beginning--it is very exciting and heady stuff! I've been learning about Tarot cards for over 25 years and I still have a long way to go!

Laura
