usually referred to as 45-mph couch potatoes...
yeah, they run fast, but 99% of the time you will find them asleep on the couch, your bed or anywhere else they find soft and comfy....
initially it takes about 2 weeks for the dog to get comfortable in a home. You will have to teach him/her about stairs, sliding glass doors and what lovies/hugs are all about. Most have spent their entire lives in a kennel/track situation so they don't know about living in homes.
There may be some inital "problems" with housebreaking - but it's more that YOU haven't figured out their signals when they need to go out to do their business.
they are quiet and laid back - not big barkers. most have no problem with cats or other small animals. They walk beautifully on lead. No problems with kids - if a kid annoys them - they just walk away.
Because of their short coat - people with allergies usually don't have a problem with them.
We're sold on the greyhounds, and wouldn't hesitate to get another in the future -- but for now our "ark" is full and has pulled away from the dock. 3-dogs and 5-cats of our own + a foster is enough.
