Recently, I sent you a letter about the same-sex couples who are celebrating their first wedding anniversary this week?and to ask for your help in protecting their marriages from being outlawed next year.

If you've already responded, thanks for your support. If not, please think about this:

We've just lost one potential legislator to the other side.

I'm genuinely worried. About two weeks ago, a legislator we thought could be won over to our side committed to support the anti-gay Constitutional Amendment again.

Don't be deceived by the mainstream media. We simply do not have the 100 votes we need to stop the anti-gay Constitutional Amendment in the Legislature. And Senate President Travaglini has promised to bring it to a vote.

It?s bad enough that we're up against Governor Romney and well-funded radical extremists. But John Kerry chose this month to condemn the Massachusetts Democratic Party for supporting equal marriage rights. So we can't even count on everyone we might think of as friends.

Our summer canvassing program may not happen.

It?s critical that we mobilize supporters in swing districts this summer. We've finished interviewing the interns and organizers we need. But we may not be able to hire any of them without your contribution.

Please do your part right away. You can make your donation online at: http://www.massequality.org/Anniversary/
(Want to contribute in smaller, easier payments? You can have a monthly donation of your choice billed to your credit card automatically, for as long as you like. Plus, the regular income helps us plan our defense more effectively. Just sign up on our web site.)

Thousands of Massachusetts couples are counting on you as they celebrate their wedding anniversaries this week. Please don't let them down.

Marty Rouse
Campaign Director

P.S. We need your help to enroll more supporters right now. Please forward this message to five friends with your personal plea. We?ve found that person-to-person appeals are the only way to fund the defense of equal rights in Massachusetts.

MassEquality.org is dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated.

MassEquality.org values its relationship with you.
